Michigan Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Program Offering Turkey Hunting Workshop April 2 2011

Michigan –-(Ammoland.com)- The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is offering a Spring Turkey Hunting workshop April 2 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in cooperation with Gander Mountain.

This workshop is part of the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program. The program will be offered at the Gander Mountain store in Portage, located at 5348 S. Westnedge Ave.

BOW is a non-competitive program in which each individual is encouraged to learn at her own pace. The emphasis is on the enjoyment, fun and camaraderie of outdoor activities, and sharing in the success of one another.

Instructors will provide participants with all of the information needed to begin turkey hunting. The workshop includes season rules and regulations, habitat, scouting, patterning, hunting technique and will cover different types of equipment needed for a successful hunt.

Young hunters ages 10 and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. The cost per person is $10 and includes all workshop materials, including a turkey call. Participants must pre-register for this workshop as space is limited. The registration deadline is March 31.
