Marines turn up the volume for their birthday (VIDEOS)

Organized first at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia on Nov. 10, 1775, the U.S. Marine Corps is set to honor Devil Dogs past, present, and future with their 242nd anniversary this week.

In the above moto video, posted to the USMC’s official social media feed, they bring the noise to the Marines’ Hymn with everything from small arms and field artillery to close-support aircraft.

Below, the 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert Neller, and the 18th Sgt. Maj. of the Marine Corps, Ronald Green, speak about the importance of the legacy of the nation’s amphibious operations powerhouse.

It should be noted that this week is also the 101st birthday of “Manila John” Basilone, one of the most badass Marines of all time. Don’t know Basilone’s story? See it below.
