SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--(Ammoland.com)- Smith and Wesson Corp., announced today that Professional Shooter Jerry Miculek has won the Open Division at the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Multi-Gun Nationals held at the Shootout Range in Princeton, Louisiana. This year’s match marks the seventh time Miculek has captured the championship title; his ninth major win of the 2008 competitive shooting season.

The 2008 USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals featured 12 stages of fire with 120 shooters from 28 states competing for three division titles. Throughout the match, competitors used a rifle, pistol and shotgun, and at times were required to use a combination of the three firearms to complete specific stages. Competitors were timed as they maneuvered around obstacles for each course of fire and engaged targets ranging in distance from 10 to 300 yards. During the three-day match, Miculek posted consistent scores winning five of the 12 stages of fire. Also competing in this year’s event was fellow teammate and wife, Kay Miculek. Kay delivered another strong performance for Team Smith & Wesson by winning the Ladies Open Division.

Tom Kelly, Vice President of Marketing for Smith & Wesson said, “The Multi-Gun Nationals is one of the most demanding events on the USPSA circuit. In order to win, you must have a wide skill set with each of the three firearms. Jerry’s ability to continually perform well in this event, winning seven championship titles, is a true testament to his shooting ability. Jerry’s preparation before each match is relentless and it has shown throughout his career. We are very proud to have both Jerry and Kay as representatives for Smith and Wesson.”

Miculek’s win at the USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals follows his eighth major victory of the season at the 2008 IDPA National Championships. In September, Miculek captured the Revolver Division at the USPSA Nationals. Earlier this year, Miculek earned his 17th IRC Championship before going on to win a national title at the U.S. Steel Nationals. Miculek also earned wins at the 2008 American Handgunner World Shoot-off, the Smith and Wesson Steel Shoot Series Match, the Sportsman’s Team Challenge and the USPSA Area-6 Regional Championships.
