Hunting Heritage Trust to Continue Good Work of Good Gun Foundation

Watertown, Ct – The Board of Directors of the Good Gun Foundation has selected the Hunting Heritage Trust, Inc. to receive the assets of and to carry on the educational and communications mission of the discontinued foundation.

“After several years of supporting noteworthy projects in support of firearms education and enhancing public understanding of firearms ownership and use, the Board of Directors of the Good Gun Foundation has decided to discontinue fundraising and program efforts and to transfer our assets to the Hunting Heritage Trust” reported Foundation President, Bryan Tucker.

“The Good Gun Foundation had partnered with the Hunting Heritage Trust in the past,” Tucker said. “We are familiar with their objectives and their management and are very confident they will support efforts that are consistent with the former mission of the Good Gun Foundation.”

One specific Hunting Heritage Trust program that will benefit from the transfer of the Good Gun Foundation assets is production and distribution of educational programming to the nation’s schools.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Hunting Heritage Trust, I would like to thank Bryan and his fellow Board members for the confidence they have placed in our young organization,” commented Bob Delfay, President of the Trust. “Our two organizations shared a strong belief in the importance of providing the American public with a positive message on responsible firearms ownership and use. We will proudly pursue that mission with this Good Gun Foundation support.”

Since its founding in 2002, the Trust has awarded a variety of grants in support of public education, youth programs, shooting safety, women’s hunting and shooting outreach and other programs. A major Trust initiative for 2008-2009 is production of a major television documentary exploring the cultural and historic importance of hunting in our nation with subsequent distribution of the program to thousands of schools nationwide.
