Modern Christians are portrayed by the big media as bigoted, hypocritical, and most often weak-willed. In many cases, it seems that church leaders foster and encourage this situation, but is that the way of the faith or of man?
It saddens us that this message is even necessary. Growing up in the United States of America during the 1970s and 80s, I could never have imagined that faithful patriotism would be under assault, not just from the fringe-left, but from members of the US government.
Yet here we are. We are living in an era where flying the American flag is criticized as “offensive” and desecrating it applauded as “free speech.” Openly supporting the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution is portrayed as “radical.”
