Reno, NV – -(AmmoLand.com)- The 25th Exhibition will be the only time in 2009 where one can have the unique experience to see the artistic abilities of members from the Firearms Engravers Guild of America and the American Custom Gunmakers Guild displayed under one roof. The Firearms Engravers ‘s38; Gunmakers Exhibition (www.FEGA.com) will include museum quality American custom pieces valued at $5,000 to $500,000 or more. More of an art display, commissioned works include pieces that have been shown in special museum exhibits as examples of fine modern custom guns. January 23-25, Reno, NV Silver Legacy Resort Exposition Hall.

One of the distinctive highlights of this year'ss exhibition is ‘sThe Special Hornet's ACGG #24. This perfect small game and fun recreational shooting gun is the latest creation by a team of members of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG). A special Winchester 1885.22 Hornet was created based on this traditional American action and cartridge. Roger Ferrell did extensive metalwork on the original 1913 frame and barrel. Stockwork by Al Lind on an outstanding piece of American Black Walnut is checkered in 24 lpi in a modified point pattern. Engraver Jerome Glimm complemented the project with tasteful German-style engraving.

Each year a lucky $20 ticket holder wins a special project created to show the public the artistry of custom guns. Perhaps someone who might not be able to commission a custom firearm will be the proud owner of ‘sThe Special Hornet.'s The winner (who does not have to be present) will own ‘sThe Special Hornet,'s including the unique Damascus knife and the leather case. Anyone interested in the raffle go to www.ACGG.org or send $20 per ticket to ACGG 22 Vista Ln Cody, WY by January 15th. Ticket purchasers are mailed a numbered receipt and a color brochure. There is no limit of number of tickets each person can purchase. All federal and state laws apply.

Special features for this special anniversary year exhibition will include displays by members of the American Bladesmith Society including well-known knifemakers Al Pendray, Red St. Cyr, Jay Hendrickson, Charlie Ochs and others. These craftsmen of the forged blade will showcase their unique one-of-a-kind hand-forged knives. Back again will be members of the Contemporary Longrifle Association including Ron Scott and Jim Chambers. Contemporary muzzleloading and shooting accoutrements fascinate every history and shooting fan.

The special historical display of custom guns rarely seen will provide a not-to-miss opportunity for all who appreciate fine guns. The focus for this display will be post WWII custom makers who shaped the trends of modern gunmaking. One of Jack O'sConnor'ss personal .270s will be available to examine.

The Firearms Engravers Guild of America will present seminars with the presenters and FEGA members generously sharing information acquired from decades of hands on experience. FEGA distributes many books about engraving and engravers. Castings of beautiful engraving examples can be purchased for study or decoration at www.FEGA.com. The following topics will be presented on Monday January 26th 8am -Noon. Lee Griffiths -Tools and Techniques of Sculpting, Mike Dubber – Lettering and Borders and Bob Strosin – Preparing and Finishing Firearms. Seminars are free and open to the public.

The American Custom Gunmakers Guild seminars on January 26th will run form 8:30 am -11:30 am. Gary Goudy will discuss and show his DVD on leather covered recoil pads, James Dubell will answer questions after showing his DVD on re-boring and re-rifling.
