The Hunger Games Post Apocalyptic Movie Review

“Hunger Games this” and “Hunger Games that.” The book and movie are all the rage right now. If’ you haven’t heard about it, you’re not reading popular fiction … or reading entertainment news or … or something. I kept hearing about it, figured I’d have to see what the rage was all about as it’s successful (in sales) and it’s set in a post-apocalyptic world, and ….. well, post-apocalyptic stuff is what I write about. So (if you haven’t read or seen it yet) witness!

If you’re wondering what SHTF survival lessons there are to learn in this movie or book – THERE ARE NONE. But that doesn’t mean you can’t watch it just for good ole post-apocalyptic .. awesomeness .. ? I don’t know, but it’s worth watching – or reading. Wiki states:

It is written in the voice of sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where the countries of North America once existed. The Capitol, a highly advanced metropolis, holds hegemony over the rest of the nation. The Hunger Games are an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12 to 18 from each of the 12 districts surrounding the Capitol are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle in which only one person can survive.

In other words, it’s like 74 years after an apocalyptic war. It’s like a Great Depression era / third world country in outlying districts. Twenty-four kids fight each other inside a large, forest-like “computer dome” (for lack of a better phrase (I’ve only watched the movie)). Only one comes out. It’s primitive. It’s kids. It’s battle to the death. It’s bloody kids battling to the death, which … it’s good … the movie, I mean.

Set aside the notion of kids killing kids and it’s good apocalyptic entertainment. Prepper doesn’t have to always. Be. Sooooo. Serious. Does it? Prep for tsunamis, prep for economic collapse, prep for zombies, prep for … The Hunger Games …

Anyway, I could talk more about it than that, but there’s really no sense. If you’re intrigued about it this far, treat yourself to the movies.
